A major milestone
The 25th anniversary of the Terre Sicane Wine Route

On Saturday, February 28, 2026, the Terre Sicane Wine Route cut its silver ribbon in the conference room of Palazzo Panitteri. Under the motto "Wine unites what the sea divides," Gunther Di Giovanna, president of the Terre Sicane Wine Route, spoke, outlining the network's activities that unite the local viticulture community. At the president's table were Federica Fina, president of the Sicilian Wine Tourism Movement, Alessio Planeta of Planeta Farms, Susanna Gristina, president of the Iter Vitis International Association, Gori Sparacino, director of the Italian Federation of Wine Routes, and Vito Bentivegna, director of the Regional Institute of Wine and Oil. Franco Nuccio, as is customary, coordinated the event. The mayors of Contessa Entellina, including Leonardo Spera; Salvatore Sutera, president of the Valle del Belìce GAL; Vito Clemente of Menfi; Gaspare Viola of Santa Margherita di Belìce; Vincenzo, deputy mayor of Montevago; and representatives of local wineries also spoke. Leo Ciaccio, Regional Coordinator of Città del Vino, also spoke. Each of them received a luxurious copy of the commemorative book "25 Years of the Terre Sicane Wine Route."
The Terre Sicane Wine Route is a journey that immerses you in the charm of the ancient Entella of Contessa Entellina, the charm of the Saracen quarter of Sambuca, named Italy's Most Beautiful Village in 2016, the Acqua Pia Spa in Montevago, the Gattopardo Literary Park in Santa Margherita di Belice, and the scenery of the rolling, fertile hills that slope from Menfi toward the African Sea.
Over the past twenty-five years, numerous initiatives have been undertaken: from the inauguration of the headquarters at Palazzo Panitteri to Iter Vitis, a Cultural Route recognized by the Council of Europe, to the opening of the Enoteca del Condottiero in Contessa Entellina, Casa Planeta in Menfi, Baglio Ingoglia in Montevago, and the Enoteca del Gattopardo in Santa Margherita di Belice.
These initiatives are complemented by projects such as DiVinCinema, which combines film screenings with wine tastings; Donne&Vino, which annually honors a female figure in the world of wine; the Cana Vineyard, planted by Donnafugata on the land in front of the former Capuchin Convent; and the educational vineyard planted in the old historic center of Montevago.
The Wine Route spearheaded the "Magon" cross-border cooperation project with Tunisia, dedicated to cultural and food and wine tourism. This project led to the planting of an educational vineyard in the Selinunte Archaeological Park and the creation of the first Tunisian Wine Route.
Also noteworthy is the annual Terre Sicane Wine Fest, held in collaboration with the municipality of Contessa Entellina and hosted at the Abbey of Santa Maria del Bosco. It is twinned with the Wine Routes of Valpolicella, Soave, Montepulciano, Trentino, Croatia, Moldova, and Alsace.
A twenty-five-year journey driven by a single goal: to promote and showcase the excellent food and wine of the Terre Sicane.
The event concluded with a sumptuous buffet accompanied by the finest wines from the members and the songs of the folk group "I Viddaneddi della Valle del Belìce."
